Ezra Pound (18851972) was an influential American poet, critic and
translator who drew on a wide array of themes to interpret cultural
history. His major work, The Cantos of Ezra Pound , was published in its
entirety in 1970. His writing helped chart the course of both English and
American criticism in the early 20th century. He associated with many
of the century’s greatest writers, including Gertrude Stein, Ernest
Hemingway, and T. S. Eliot.
